David Wood is a Winthrop Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Western Australia. A graduate of St Thomas's Hospital Medical School (London), he completed specialist training in orthopaedics in England before taking up fellowships in musculoskeletal oncology at Harvard University and subsequently the University of Florida. David migrated to Australia in 1990. He is a recipient of the D V Davies Prize for Surgical Anatomy, the Sir George Bedbrook Medal for services to orthopaedics and the Evelyn Hamilton Award of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. David’s current interests include cell-based therapies, musculoskeletal oncology, surgical anatomy, joint replacement surgery and medical aid in Papua New Guinea.
