Dr Mahmood Alam is a Medical Oncologist who is working as Regional Medical Affairs Lead for Asia Pacific region, Pfizer Oncology. He is responsible for medical affairs and clinical development and manages a large team spread across Australia, South Korea, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. He provides medical leadership in supporting business and has overall accountability for medical strategy and operating plan. He is involved in looking after the oncology portfolio, comprised of a growing in line and a strong pipeline of some early and late development molecules and in bringing innovative newer treatments in various solid and haematology malignancies. He has previously worked as full time Staff Specialist at Liverpool Hospital Sydney, and also completed a year of fellowship in Lung Cancer with Australian Lung cancer Trials Group. He has undertaken original research in clinical oncology and has presented and published articles in geriatric oncology, patient preferences in treatment decisions and survival predictions in advanced cancer. While working with Pfizer he continues to infuse his enthusiasm of clinical research into new drug development and its successful launches and to overcome the challenges posed by molecular diagnostics, personalized medicine and public access to newer technologies.
