Prof Michael is a Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Medical Oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Clinical/Trial Lead Upper Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology Service, & Co-Chair of the Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit (an ENETs Centre of Excellence - the first outside Europe). He is also a Professorial Fellow at The University of Melbourne. His main research interests are in combined modality therapies for GI malignancies including NETs. Prof. Michael’s research represents a very close collaboration with institutional and outside medical specialists as well as laboratory scientists in GI oncology with regards to the clinical trial design and coordination of parallel translational studies to achieve optimisation of patient treatment. He helped establish the first dedicated Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Clinic in Australia with the largest clinical practise in this oncology specialty.
