Wee-Kheng Soo

Dr Wee-Kheng Soo is a specialist geriatrician and medical oncologist at Eastern Health and conducting research through Monash University. He completed his medical degree through the University of Melbourne in 2003. Subsequently, he was awarded dual fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2012, and achieved a clinical diploma in palliative medicine in 2012 and a diploma in geriatric oncology in 2019.
Clinically, his work focuses on comprehensive geriatric assessment, geriatric oncology, cancer supportive care, falls and frailty, and lymphoedema. He is committed to providing quality person-centred care that integrates the person’s health needs and functioning with their goals and values. He believes that better health outcomes can be achieved by working in partnership with the patient, family, caregivers and health professionals.
As an Early Career Researcher (ECR), he explores understanding and addressing the needs of older people with cancer. His PhD encompassed designing and conducting a clinical trial in the use of geriatric assessment, person-centred care, and healthcare integration for older people with cancer. He is also an executive member of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) Geriatric Oncology Special Interest Group and a member of the Cancer Survivorship Steering Committee at HealthAbility.
